The annual reunion lunch for those who were active in motor sport from the fifties through to the seventies, the annual OFL, or ‘Old Farts Lunch’ as it was christened by my late friend Mike Wilson, is now in its 26th year. I organised it for the first 13 years before going to France and took over again in 2015. It is always at The Bridge Inn on the old A1 at Walshford, near Wetherby, and is on the first Thursday in December each time.
For 2018 it falls on December 6th and begins at 11.30 for drinks with the meal at around 12.30. NB. Plenty of time to have a good natter and get a couple of rounds in!
Only you know whether you competed, organised or marshalled during those days and if you did, you are most welcome. It is a men only do but the wives and girl friends all gather in the bar for a get together of the ‘Old Tarts’. And no, I did not give them that name – they did.
There are no rules at all, the only changes over the years are that now some of the offspring of our people like to come along as do some of the ‘wannabe’s who collect and drive Classic cars. Just so long as you fit in and enjoy meeting up with old friends from our wonderful era, get in touch and I will send you the details when they come out – usually in mid October - to give time for you to get together a group for a table.
‘Thanks for organising another great do’ – Paul Hargreaves.
‘A disgracefully late thanks for such a superb Old Farts Lunch last week’ – David Birrell.
‘Thanks Bob – well done’ - John Gilpin.
